2) − 0.8 + 5.4 step 2: 4.6 + (− 9.2 − 0.8) + 5.4 (associative property) step 3: 4.6 − 10 + 5.4 step 4: 4.6 + 5.4 − 10 (associative property) step 5: 10 − 10 = 0

In mathematics, when you are presented with multiple operations in one equation, you follow the PEMDAS rule. This rule assigns which operation should be the first priority. The P means parenthesis. So, any expression inside the parenthesis should be calculated first. This is followed by Exponent(E), Multiplication (M), Division (D), Addition (A) and lastly, Subtraction (S). Technically, when all you have left is addition and subtraction, priority doesn't matter because of associative property.

Step 1: Nothing has change. Blake just copied the original equation.
Step 2: Blake changed the placing of the parenthesis. As mentioned earlier, you have to prioritize what's inside the parenthesis first. You can't change the position of the parenthesis. It will matter. Good thing, the answer, in this case, does not matter. But this does not apply to all situations.
Step 3: Blake was correct. He prioritize the <span>(− 9.2 − 0.8) term which is equal to -10.
Step 4: Associative property allows you interchange the order of the operations without changing the final answer. This is applicable to addition and subtraction operations. Hence, this was used correctly.
Step 5: Technically, this was correct because addition is prioritized more than subtraction.

Therefore, Blake's error was in Step 2.</span>

How many band uniforms can be made with 131 3/4 yards of fabric if each uniform requires 3 7/8 yards
ElenaW [278]
The question can be read as how many 3 \frac{7}{8} can be made out of 131 \frac{3}{4}

131 \frac{3}{4}÷3 \frac{7}{8} ⇒ We need to change each mixed number into an improper fraction

131 \frac{3}{4}= \frac{[131*4]+3}{4}= \frac{527}{4}
3 \frac{7}{8}= \frac{[3*8]+7}{8}  = \frac{31}{8}

\frac{527}{4}÷\frac{31}{8}
\frac{527}{4}×\frac{8}{31}
\frac{527*8}{4*31}= \frac{4216}{248} =17

A large hose can fill 7/8 of a water tank in one hour. A small hose
luda_lava [24]

Answer: 1/8

Step-by-step explanation:

From the question, we are informed that a large hose can fill 7/8 of a water tank in one hour while a small hose

can fill 3/4 of a water tank in one hour.

To get the solution to the question above, we have to find the difference between the amount if water filled by the large and the smaller hose. This will be:

= 7/8 - 3/4

= 7/8 - 6/8

= 1/8

a senator wishes to estimate the proportion of united states voters who favor new road construction. what size sample should be
Nitella [24]

The  size of the sample should be obtained at 2401 in order to be 95% confident

Given that:

Margi of error, ME=0.02

Population proportion, p=0.50

To Find: The size of the sample that should be obtained in order to be 95% confident

Let the size of the sample be n

Using formula,

n=(p*(1-p))*(z(0.05/2)/ME)^{2} \\n=(0.5*(1-0.5))*(1.96/0.02)^{2} \\n=0.25*9604\\n=2401

Therefore, the size of the sample should be obtained at 2401 in order to be 95% confident
