Explanation: you'd first have to apply and and wait as they judge your contry (i mean it is the first step to join the E.U. thats all) you could say you wanna slide away from a country like Russia because Ukraine would not want Russia to illegially occupy Ukraine, so this would be why Ukraine would want to join the E.U. This at least gives a good reason to join.
