ANSWER

It took 1 hour 30 minutes

EXPLANATION

It was given that Elena and Jada are 12 miles apart.

This means that the distance between them is

d = 12 \: miles

We use the formula,

speed = \frac{distance}{time}

If Elena covers d miles in
t_1 \: hours

Then Jada will cover,
( 12-d) \: miles

in
t_2 \: hours

We were told that Elena runs at a constant speed of 5 miles per hour.

This implies that,
5 = \frac{d}{t_1}

t_1= \frac{d}{5} ...eqn1

and Jadda walks a constant speed of 3 miles per hour.

This implies that,

3 = \frac{12-d}{t_2}

This implies that,

t_2 = \frac{12-d}{3} ...eqn2

When Elena and Jada meets,then

t_2 = t_1

We equate the two equations and solve. This implies that,

\frac{d}{5} = \frac{12-d}{3}

We cross multiply to get,

3d = 5(12-d)

3d = 60-5d

This implies that,

8d= 60

d = 7.5

The time they met was after

\frac{7.5}{5} = 1.5\: hours

If you really want to figure this out you make an equation to solve for the time
let's let
x = time from Elena to Jada and
x = time from Jada to Elena
12 then the equation
12 = 5x +3x
would help figuring out their distance say for one of them
12 = x(5+3)
12/8 = x
1.5 = x
1. 5 hours they will meet up

The price of all rail season tickets to London increased by 4%. The price of a rail season ticket from Cambridge to London incre
kirill115 [55]
Percentage increase in the rate of all rail season tickets to London = 4%
Price of the rail ticket from Cambridge to London increased by = 121.60
Let us assume the price before the increase in the fare = x
Then
4% * x = 121.60 dollars
(4/100) * x = 121.60 dollars
x/25 = 121.60 dollars
x = 25 * 121.60 dollars
   = 3040 dollars
So the price of the ticket from Cambridge to London before the increase in price was 3040. I hope the procedure is simple enough for you to understand.

The odds of winning a rifle are 1:9 the probability of winning a carnival game is 0.15 does the raffle or the carnival game give
Lilit [14]

Answer:

Hence the carnival game gives you better chance of winning.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the event of win be given by 1/10 in the game of rifle then the event of loose is given by 9/10

the

Odds in favor of a game are given by  = P(Event)/ 1- P(Event)

Odds in favor of winning a rifle are given by = 1/10/ 1- 1/10

                                                                         =1/10/9/10

                                                                          =1/9

                                                                             = 0.111

The probability of winning aa rifle game is 0.111

The probability of winning the carnival game is 0.15

Comparing the two probabilities   0.111:0.15

The probability of  winning carnival game is greater than winning a rifle game

0.15>0.11

Hence the carnival game gives you better chance of winning.

If you are currently making 6.75 per hour and you’re offered a new job that pays 7.47 per hour how much more would you make per
Nikolay [14]

Answer:

$0.72

Step-by-step explanation:

You are contrasting the numbers, so that means you are subtracting. When you subtract, the larger number goes on top..

7.47 - 6.75 = ?

So then you subtract and get $0.72.

I will make $0.72 more than I was at my current job.
