Use the zero product property to find the solitions to the equation(x+2)(x+3)=12.
kykrilka [37]

Answer:

(x + 2) (x + 3) = x² + 3x + 2x + 6 = 12  (multiply the binomials)

(x + 2) (x + 3) = x² + 5x + 6 = 12

(x + 2) (x + 3) = x² + 5x + 6-12 = 0  (add the like term and bring the positive 12 to the other side which makes it negative)

x² + 5x + 6 = 0

Using the snowflake method -  (finding the factors of 6 that adds/subtracts to give you 5).

This method will give you the factors (x + 6)(x - 1)

ZERO PROPERTY RULE:

(x + 6) = 0

x = -6

(x - 1) = 0

x = 1

The two solutions to the equation are -6 and 1.

Pryce Company owns equipment that cost $65,000 when purchased on January 1, 2012. It has been depreciated using the straight-lin
ki77a [65]
Monthly depreciation is calculated as follows:
65,000 (Cost) – 5,000 (Salvage Value) ÷ 60 (5 years X 12 months per year) = 1,000 in depreciation per month.

a) Accumulated depreciation from 1/1/12 to 1/1/15 is 36,000 (12 months for 2012, 2013, & 2014).
Assuming that sale was a Cash sale, the journal entry would look like this:
1/1/15
Cash (DR) 31,000
Accumulated Depreciation (DR) 36,000
Equipment (CR) 65,000
Gain on Sale of Equipment (CR) 2,000

b) Accumulated depreciation from 1/1/12 to 5/1/15 is 40,000 (12 months for 2012, 2013, 2014, & 4 months for 2015).
Assuming that sale was a Cash sale, the journal entry would look like this:
5/1/15
Cash (DR) 31,000
Accumulated Depreciation (DR) 40,000
Equipment (CR) 65,000
Gain on Sale of Equipment (CR) 6,000

c) Accumulated depreciation from 1/1/12 to 1/1/15 is 36,000 (12 months for 2012, 2013, & 2014).
Assuming that sale was a Cash sale, the journal entry would look like this:
1/1/15
Cash (DR) 11,000
Accumulated Depreciation (DR) 36,000
Loss on Sale of Equipment (DR) 18,000
Equipment (CR) 65,000

d) Accumulated depreciation from 1/1/12 to 10/1/15 is 45,000 (12 months for 2012, 2013, 2014, & 9 months for 2015).
Assuming that sale was a Cash sale, the journal entry would look like this:
10/1/15
Cash (DR) 11,000
Accumulated Depreciation (DR) 45,000
Loss on Sale of Equipment (DR) 9,000
Equipment (CR) 65,000

Cellus

Answer:

y = 6 when x = 18

Step-by-step explanation:

The appropriate formula for this direct proportion is y = kx, where k is the constant of proportionality.

We know y = 3 when x = 9:  3 = k(9)

This yields k = 3/9, or k = 1/3

Then the formula is y = (1/3)x

and when x = 18, y = (1/3)(18) = 6

y = 6 when x = 18

A mattress store is having a sale all mattresses are 30% of. Nate wants to know the sale price of a mattress that is regularly $
koban [17]

Answer: $700

Step-by-step explanation:

The store is selling at 30% off.

If a mattress is $1,000, first find out what 30% of $1,000 is:

= 1,000 * 30%

= $300

The store is selling 30% off, this means that they are reducing the price by 30%:

= 1,000 - 300

= $700
