Veronique has a spinner with three sections of equal size, red (r), green (g), and blue (b).The spinner is spun twice. The sampl

e space for the possible outcomes is S = {rr, rb, rg, gr, gg, gb, br, bg, bb}. If the number of times red is spun is the random variable, X, which graph represents the probability distribution?

The color red can only appear 0,1 or 2 times. We also have that there are in total 9 outcomes. Hence, each event has the same probability, 1/9. Since the definition of probability is the number of favorable outcomes over the total number of outcomes, we get that since in 1 outcome we have both spins turning red, the probability of 2 times appearing red is 1/9. We also have 4 spins where there is only one red; rb, rg, gr, br. Hence, the probability is 4/9. Now, we have 4 outcomes where there is no red. Hence, the probability for 0 reds is also 4/9.
Succinctly P(0 reds)=4/9, P(1 red)=4/9, P(2 reds)= 1/9

Jerry has a garden that has a length of 30 feet and a width of 10 feet. Fertilizer is on sale for $2 per bottle. If each bottle
Maksim231197 [3]

Answer:  $50

Step-by-step explanation:

30 × 10 = 40 ft²  [garden area]

40 ÷ 25 = 1.6

1.6 ≈ 2

For the area of the entire garden, you need to buy two bottles of fertilizer.

25 × 2 = 50        [fertilization cost for the whole garden]

Write an equation of the line through the point (5, 3) that is perpendicular to the line –3x+7y=5.
Fed [463]

Answer:

7x + 3y = 44

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation of a line in slope- intercept form is

y = mx + c (m is the slope and c the y- intercept )

Rearrange - 3x + 7y = 5 into this form by adding 3x to both sides

7y = 3x + 5 ( divide all terms by 7 )

y = \frac{3}{7} x + \frac{5}{7} ← in slope- intercept form

with slope m = \frac{3}{7}

Given a line with slope m then the slope of a line perpendicular to it is

m_{perpendicular} = - \frac{1}{m} = - \frac{1}{\frac{3}{7} } = - \frac{7}{3} , thus

y = - \frac{7}{3} x + c ← is the partial equation

To find c substitute (5, 3) into the partial equation

3 = - \frac{35}{3} + c ⇒ c = 3 + \frac{35}{3} = \frac{44}{3}

y = - \frac{7}{3} x + \frac{44}{3} ← in slope- intercept form

Multiply through by 3

3y = - 7x + 44 ( add 7x to both sides )

7x + 3y = 44 ← in standard form
