How does lactation differ in monotremes and therian mammals
Soloha48 [4]
Lactation is different between monotremes and therian mammals because monotremes are oviparous and have cloaca . Oviparous means they lay eggs, and generally animals that lay eggs do not nurse their young or lactate. Therian mammals give live birth, these are the animals that use breast milk to nurse their young.

A fungal spore germinates, giving rise to a mycelium that grows outward into the soil surrounding the site where the spore origi
Alecsey [184]

Answer:

B) cytoplasmic streaming in hyphae

Explanation:

Fungal mycelium refers to the branched vegetative structure of the fungi which is formed by the growth of the hyphae. The hyphae contain three zones of growth: the apical, subapical and zone of vacuolation.

The hyphae grow in the apical region which forms a branched structure in which the cytoplasm continuously moves between the hyphae at the point of fusion towards the growing tip. This movement of the cytoplasm towards the growing tip is known as "cytoplasmic streaming".

This streaming of cytoplasm is responsible for the formation of a zone of vacuolation and the mycelium is formed.

Thus, Option-B is the correct answer.

The growing tip eventually gives rise to a branch. This is the beginning of the branched mycelium. Growing tips that come in contact with neighbouring hyphae often fuse with them to form a hyphal net. In such a vigorously growing system, the cytoplasm is in constant motion, streaming toward the growing tips. Eventually, the older hyphae become highly vacuolated and may be stripped of most of their cytoplasm.

Explain how predator and prey populations limit each other growth rates.
EleoNora [17]
Notice that independently, the prey population goes up, if the predator's population is low. One interpretation is that there are not enough predators to really make a dent in the prey's population. But as the prey's population increases, they become easier targets for the predators since there are so many. As predators feed on prey, the predator's population increases (more food, can sustain a bigger population) and the prey's population decreases. As less and less prey are available to hunt, the predator's population also decreases.

Note that it need not be this cyclical, the trend can go to an equilibrium point where the populations do not fluctuate all that much.

the predator eats the prey limiting them to not overly grow. And the prey do not overly grow limiting the predators population to not overly grow as well. hope that helps
