Laurentia (North American Craton) is a large continental craton that forms the ancient geological core of the North American continent. Many times in its past, Laurentia has been a separate continent as it is now in the form of North America, although originally it also included the cratonic areas of Greenland and also the northwestern part of Scotland, known as theHebridean Terrane. During other times in its past, Laurentia has been part of larger continents and supercontinents and itself consists of many smaller terranes assembled on a network of Early Proterozoic orogenic belts. Small microcontinents and oceanic islands collided with and sutured onto the ever-growing Laurentia, and together formed the stable Precambriancraton seen today.

Which of the following statements is true of asexual reproduction?
Alex73 [517]
Asexual reproduction produces offspring that are genetically identical to a single parent. The offspring may either bud from the parent or by fission. An example of this is Baker’s yeast. They are produced by budding. So as the small bud grows from the parent, it receives the same nucleus of the parent. When it pinches off from the parent, it is smaller but is genetically similar to the parent. On the other hand sexual reproduction involves two parents that contribute to the genetic material in order to produce a unique offspring. Your answer is incorrect. The correct answer is letter B.

Why is the ocean so salty(where did the salt come from?)
Ann [662]
The salt in the ocean comes from the rocks on land. The rain that falls onto land caontains some kind of dissovled carbon dioxide from the air. And that causes the water to be a bit acid to carbolic acid. Also rain replenishes freshwater in rivers and streams, so they don’t taste salty. However, the water in the ocean collects all of the salt and minerals from all of the rivers that flow into it.
