Describe how DNA replication relates to transmission and conservation of genetic information.
Jet001 [13]
DNA replication follows the base pairing rule (A with T and G with C). This ensures identical replication of the genetic information; hence it's conservation. Each daughter DNA double helix contains one old strand of DNA and one newly-synthesized strand of DNA. This is known as the semi-conservative mechanism.
DNA replication also occurs during mitosis which produces haploid gametes. Each parent contributes half of the genetic information during fertilization of two gametes, thus regenerating the diploid number. Genes from both parents are transmitted to the offspring.

• why is gc typically limited to molecules that weigh less than 400 amu?
Anna35 [415]

Gas chromatography (GC) is a method of separating mixed compounds. The separation will depend on each compound's retention time. Compounds with higher molecular weights will elute out slower than those with lower molecular weight. This is due to their difference in boiling points. The larger the structure, the higher the boiling point.

Which of the following prevents blood from flowing backward through the circulatory system?
S_A_V [24]

Answer: Valves in the veins

Explanation: The flow of the blood inside the body takes place through the veins and arteries. The oxygenated blood from the heart is supplied to the different parts of the body.

The blood flows from the capillaries to the venules and from there to the veins. The blood moves in the veins by the rhythmic movement of the smooth muscles in the body.

Most of the blood moves against the gravity so there is a chance that it can backflow so to prevent this there are valves in the veins known as one way valves.
