History

Answer:

Third world countries became the perfect battleground for cold war proxy battles during the early 1940's to late 1990's. United States wanted to flex its political muscle and try to curtail the spread of Soviet Communism in the developing nations.

The period of the Cold War transformed the European continent between the late 40's to the early 90's. ... However the Marshall plan demonstrated the first real divide in Europe as the Soviet Union forbade nations in it sphere of influence to accept marshal aid.

Asia was drastically affected by the cold war. The Korean war divided Korea at the 38th parallel, making it into North and South Korea. ... Another big player in the cold war in Asia was Vietnam and the fight against communism that killed 58,000 American soldiers, and an unnamed amount of Vietnamese soldiers.

During the Cold War, the United States supported anti-communist dictators who committed human rights abuses and opposed democrat
gladu [14]

Answer:

In certain times, the actual goal of the United States is countering a certain issue and want to get as much support in this “fight”, even if said support may not stand for the same “ideals” the United States supposedly stands for.

Explanation:

When the country wants to tackle a certain issue (for example, communism), they usually look for support in leaders that want to tackle this issue as well, hoping to get more fuel for this fight, yet they tend to make blind eyes to the other crimes that support may be doing.

What step did mexico take to recover after world oil prices collapsed in 1981?
igomit [66]
The government gradually increased their oil production to prevent an inflationary spiral that could hinder the recovery of the economy. They also declined their participation in the boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympic Games held in Moscow led by the United States. When the US and Mexico could not concur on the price of the natural gas, the latter decided to widen its excess resources rather than selling it to the US at a low price. Also, despite the defiance of the US, Mexico recognized the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front rebels in El Salvador as a representative political force. The US remained as a major oil customer and its major source of investment capital to Mexico even after those steps taken by Mexico. By 1981, the latter became the fourth largest oil producer throughout the world.

How did Democrats seize power from Republicans in the South?
Neko [114]

Democratic dominance of the South originated in the struggle of white Southerners during and after Reconstruction (1865–1877) to reestablish white supremacy and disenfranchise blacks. The U.S. government under the Republican Party had defeated the Confederacy, abolished slavery, and enfranchised blacks.

Explain how the Marshall Plan and the Berlin airlift aided the US in achieving their post-war goals.
jasenka [17]

Answer:

The Marshall plan helped prevent the turn to communism of Western Europe, which was a possiblity, especially in Italy and France, where communist parties where very strong.

The logic of the Marshall plan was to help rebuild and develop Western Europe, to show them the benefits of capitalism and a market economy, and prevent like that, the spread of communism from Eastern Europe.

This goal was achieved because no Western European country turned to communism since the end fo the World War, even when socialist and communist parties got to power.

The goal of the Berlin airlift was to prevent a shortage of goods in West Berlin after the Soviet Union blocked supplies to the city.

The Soviet Union wanted to force the US to abandon the city by blocking Berlin, since the Soviet Union dominated all areas sorrounding Berlin. However, the US was able to keep control of West Berlin by supplying the city through air.

Maintaining control of West Berlin was very important for the US for both strategic and symbolic reasons, and the success of the Berlin airlift was a crucial part of the strategy.
