People die in tsunmani because it is very power waves that could drown people .and could drag people in to the water .But think its caused by sea level rise but then I guess when that happens it creates big strong waves. This most likely happens common on islands such as Hawaii.

Some people could drown in tsunamis other people could get stuck in the waves and crash into hard objects.
