The Electoral College should not be abolished. If it was demolished, America would be a pure democracy instead of a democratic-republic, pure democracy's never succeed and they always are corrupt. Thanks to the Electoral College, minorities (less populated states) also have a vote. Without the Electoral College, the bigger states (New York, Texas, etc) would have too much of a voice. The individual running for president has to appeal to all the states and not just focus on making the big city people happy. And lastly,I believe it should not be abolished because it was the way our founders created it to be and it's important to preserve the constitution and keep it original.
I believe the Electoral College should be removed from the election process. There have been several occasions where a Presidential candidate got more votes than their opponent, but lost the presidency due to the electoral college. All other elected officials are determined by a popular vote, so the presidency should do the same. In the latest election, Hillary Clinton received nearly three million more votes than her opponent, Donald Trump. However, Donald Trump won the electoral college. This means that despite Clinton getting more votes than Trump, Trump still became president. The electoral college ignores the will of the people, and should be abolished.
It resulted in a stalemate which meant that the USA had a distant threat but still a threat it also resulted in a trading partner and a loyal Allie in the pacific area
