How is the meaning of theory in science different from the everyday use of them

When we're talking about a theory in science we're talking about a set of confirmed hypothesis that have been verified in different experiments and whose predictions should be accurate if we're to make another experiment under the framework of the same theory.

    They may either release heat or gain heat. With a temperature increase, the kinetic energy increases and the state of matter will increase (example, ice to water aka solid to liquid)

    If the temperature decreases, then the kinetic energy decreases and the state of matter will decrease (example, water vapor to water aka gas to liquid)
