The book is called "The Sniper" by Liam O'Flaherty and was wrote in sometime between 1897-1984. It is based around a guy named O'Connell Bridge a Republican sniper who was in the midst of the civil war. He was trapped on a rooftop building surrounding by enemy forces and was trying to find where his enemies were located. O'Connell is young with a young face around his late twenties and is the only character that has a name in the book. What surprised me most was at the end of the story where Bridge takes down a sniper who turned out to be his brother which you find out later in the story.
