1) G=140º - angles on a straight line add to 180, H=140º - corresponding angles are congruent

2) set up the equation, since co-interior angles add to 180º the equation should be: x+40+3x+60

add like terms

4x+100=180

subtract 100

4x=80

divide by 4

x=20

3. the angles given are alternate angles meaning they are congruent, set up and equation: 3x-10=7x-42

add like terms

-4x=52

divide by 4

x=-13

To find angle DHG input the answer into the angles equation

7(13)-42

91-42

49

DHG=49º

16. Tell whether the lines for each pair of equations are parallel, perpendicular, or neither.
il63 [147K]

Answer:

Given equation are:

y = -\frac{1}{4}x+8                  ......[1]

-2x+8y = 4                             .....[2]

  • The two lines are parallel lines then their slopes will be equal.
  • When two lines are perpendicular then, the slope of lines are the negative reciprocals of each other.

Now, Equation of a line is in the form of y =mx+b where m is the slope of the line.

Slope(m_1) of equation of line in [1] is;

y = -\frac{1}{4}x+8

then;

m_1= -\frac{1}{4}

Slope(m_2) of equation of line in [2];

-2x+8y = 4

Add both sides 2x we get;

-2x + 8y + 2x = 2x + 4

Simplify:

8y = 2x +4

Divide both sides by 8 we get;

y = \frac{1}{4} x + \frac{1}{2}

then;

m_2 = \frac{1}{4}

Therefore, the given two lines are neither parallel nor perpendicular.

Members of a soccer team raised $1428 to go to a tournament. They rented a bus for $955.50 and budgeted $31.50 per player for me
natali 33 [55]

Answer:

16 players can be brought to the tournament. The equation is written within my step-by-step explanation.

Step-by-step explanation:

Variable p = number of players

Set up an equation:

974.50 + 60.75p = 1946.50

Isolate variable p:

60.75p = 972

Divide:

p = 16

Check your work:

974.50 + 60.75(16) = 1946.50

974.50 + 972 = 1946.50

1946.50 = 1946.50
