Hawaii had become an American territory during 1989 after the Spanish-American War.

Explanation:

Along with Manifest Destiny, after the war, the United States had made an unofficial empire in the Pacific. With the Philippines as its biggest colony, Hawaii was much closer to home therefore it was annexed. Hawaii held a geographical strategic value and eventually in the future would turn into an economically prosperous state.

The objective of the Bretton Woods Conference was to establish an international order for monetary policy after World War II.

The conference of more than 700 representatives from 44 countries met in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, in 1944.  It created plans for an International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which became what is now called the World Bank.  It also made plans for the International Monetary Fund.
