The theme develops in "The Reefs" after Sophia takes a snorkeling trip with her aunt and is told the situation regarding the coral reefs state so she works tirelessly to help in relieving the environmental stress put on to the Reefs wildlife because she believes it's what mom and dad would have done. Sophia's best friends Sam even helps keep her company while she works on the solution to the Reefs needs are met. Sophia's professors warm her that she's only a high school student her efforts will be for nothing, she goes on to prove them wrong and make her parents and herself proud of her efforts.
