7x - 8y = 37

y+2 = ⅞x - 21/8 (subtract ⅞x from both sides)

y+2-⅞x = -21/8 (subtract 2 from both sides)

Multiply both sides by 8 to get ride of fractions

8y - 7x = -37 (rearrange)

-7x + 8y = -37

It's better to have a positive coefficient for x if you can.  So multiply both sides by -1.  That just means changing the sign of every term on both sides, you get

7x - 8y = 37
