It could also lead to new ideas within the civilization and how to better themselves. But, there are also disadvantages. Interactions with other groups can cause conflict because there could be territorial arguments and fighting because people would want to have as much land and territory as possible, and they don't want intruders. Interactions could also lead to betrayal and fighting.
