Speaking in simple terms broadens your available audience. Everyone doesn't have the same educational background to understand high-level vocabulary, and when this happens your main point is lost. Similarly, it makes you more reliable as a person that will help persuade your audience.

There's always more you can add to this answer.

Match each summary to the paragraph that it summarizes. (A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift)
polet [3.4K]

The correct matching of the summary to the given paragraphs are:

4. It is sad to see so many poor families begging in the streets.- Paragraph 1

5, A newborn child does not cost much to raise for the first year. My plan will affect those over that age; they will not only no longer be a financial burden but will actually contribute to the needs of the family.- Paragraph 3

What is a Modest Proposal?

This refers to the satirical piece by Jonathan Swift where he talked about the hardship in the town and how people should eat their children to satiate hunger.

Hence, the other matchings are:

7. My solution is not just for beggar children but for all children and families that are having difficulty surviving. - Paragraph 6

8. I, therefore, put forth my own solution. - Paragraph 2

1. There is such a large (and increasing) number of the poor that anyone who can find a workable solution should be honored. -Paragraph 4

2. My plan would reduce the money spent on abortions and the shame. - Paragraph 7

3. Twelve-year-old children cannot be sold for enough money to make a profit (compared to the cost of raising them to that age). - Paragraph 8
