On the basis of data from 1990 to 2006, the median income y in the year x for men and women is approximated by the equations giv

en below, where x=0 corresponds to 1990 and y is in constant 2006 dollars. If these equations remain valid in the future, in what year will the median income of men and women be the same?
Men: -236x + 2y = 56,939
Women: -838x + 3y = 41,655

The median income of men and women will be the same in the year:

Answer:

  2080

Step-by-step explanation:

The solution to these equations might best be found using Cramer's Rule. It tells you ...

  x = (56939×3 -41655×2)/(-236×3 +838×2) = 87507/968 ≈ 90.400

This is years after 1990, so the year the incomes become the same is predicted to be ...

  1990 +90.4 = 2080.4

The median incomes will be the same in the year 2080.

Find the area of the following shape. You must show all work to receive credit. (10 points) Figure ABCDEF is shown.
andrey2020 [161]

Answer:

53

Step-by-step explanation:

1) Take the area of the rectangle from origin to Point B. We see that it is 8 * 11 = 88 units of area

2) We subtract all the triangles in the rectangle that are not covered by the shape.

So

  • Triangle FAPoint(0,-8) area = 1/2 * 2 * 5 = 5
  • Triangle FEPoint(0,-3) area = 1/2 * 3 * 4 = 6
  • Rectangle P(0,0) P(0,-3) P(6,-3) P(6,0) area = 6 * 3 = 18
  • Triangle DP(6,0)P(11,0) area = 1/2 * 5 * 3 = 7.5

Take the area of the big imaginary rectangle and subtract the area of all the smaller triangles and the smaller rectangle

88 - 5 - 6 - 7.5 - 18 = 51.5

Can someone please help me with this! I'll do my best to give a lot of points for it!
Triss [41]
1. By combining like terms
2. Same variable = same term, so you can combine them
3. Because 2y - y = 1y , and 1y is the same as y because a y is one y (obviously)
4. 1/2 + 1/2 = 1. A half an x and a half an x makes one whole x, therefore, x
5. No. You solve them like you would a normal equation with like terms. So it would be 3z^2

Hopefully these are right, I’m a bit rusty!
6. 4x
7. 3y
8. y - 4.5
9. 3.5x + 2
10. 4y + 2
11. 7x
12. 2.2w - 0.5
13. 23b + 6.6
14. 3.75x + 1.5
15. 0.8x + 2.1
Good luck, I hope this helped
