Answer: England first tried to set up colonies at Roanoke Island in 1585. This attempt was known as the Ralph Lane Colony. This colony failed due to conflict with Native Americans and lack of food and supplies. England tried one more time in 1587 to set up a colony at Roanoke Island.

He used more pacifistic methods in order to help free India from the British raj, or harsh rule (loose translation). Some of these methods would be simple defiance by taking his own salt when there was a law saying that they can't collect their own, or by starving himself for extended periods of time.
