2. attention

Other words that one could use for these roots are retention, detention, pretend, attentive, attend, entertain...All of these have added prefixes and/or suffixes that use the root word. Retention is to hold on to something over and over again. Teachers hope that students have a lot of knowledge retention over the summer. The boy hated detention because he felt as though he was being held down in handcuffs rather than enjoying the freedom of the warm Spring day.

Which of the following sentences is correct? A. A phrase has a subject and verb, but a clause does not B. a phrase is a group of
Andrew [12]
A phrase is a group of words that can serve to describe or modify one or more words in a sentence, but it lacks a subject. It cannot stand on its own and would not make any sense unless included in a complete sentence. A clause, however, contains both a subject and a predicate (verb). An independent clause is a complete sentence that stands on its own, while a dependent clause is not a complete sentence but still contains a subject and predicate. Thus, the correct answer above is C, "A clause has a subject and verb, but a phrase does not."

Levart [38]
An appropriate personal pronoun for the bold word in the following sentence is she because a personal pronoun is: each of the pronouns in English ( I, you, he, she, it, we, they, me, him, her, us, and them ) comprising a set that shows contrasts of person, gender, number, and case. Hope this helps!
