George tells you that when variables are in the denominator, the equation four over five plus three over x equals one over two b

ecomes unsolvable. George explains, "There is a value for x that makes the denominator zero, and you can't divide by zero." Demonstrate to George how the equation is still solvable and explain your reasoning.

4/(5+3/x)= 1/2  t 8 = 5 +3/x  8x = 5x + 3 or x = 1
i do not confirm that this is correct by the way

You need to solve the equation.  IF x = 0 then and only then is it unsolvable.

4/5 + 3/x = 1/2 - setup
8x + 30 = 5x
3x = -30
x = -10

Since x isn't 0 then the answer is valid

5. Please write the equation of a line in y=mx+b format. Find the SLOPE first then find the Y-INTERCEPT (b) Your answer
castortr0y [4]

Answer:

y = \frac{5}{3}x-1

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the equation of the line is,

y = mx + b

Here m = slope of the line

b = y-intercept

Slope of a line passing through two points (x_1,y_1) and (x_2,y_2) is,

m = \frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

From the graph attached,

Since, the given line passes through (0, -1) and (3, 4),

Slope 'm' = \frac{4+1}{3-0}

m = \frac{5}{3}

y - intercept 'b' = -1

Therefore, equation of the line will be,

y = \frac{5}{3}x-1

What is the unit rate of 1/7 and 1/21 ? this is very confusing?
Xelga [282]

Answer:

the unit rate of 1/7 is itself (1/7), and for 1/21 is 1/21.

Step-by-step explanation:

this is because these rates/ratios are unit fractions. so if the numerater is 1, theres nothing you can do to simplify it.

you can check with the ceaser method as well, but you're still going to find the same solution.

plus, for example, if it takes 7 grams of sugar to make 1 cake, it wouldnt make sense for 1 gram of sugar to make 7 cakes.

hope this helped clear up your confusion <3
