Pat is taking an economics course. Pat's exam strategy is to rely on luck for the next exam. The exam consists of 100 true-false

questions. Pat plans to guess the answer to each question without reading it. If a grade on the exam is 60% or more, Pat will pass the exam. Find the probability that Pat will pass the exam.

Answer:

The probability that Pat will pass the exam is 0.02775.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that exam consists of 100 true-false questions. Pat plans to guess the answer to each question without reading it.

If a grade on the exam is 60% or more, Pat will pass the exam.

Let X = <u><em>grade on the exam by Pat</em></u>

The above situation can be represented through binomial distribution such that X ~ Binom(n = 100, p = 0.50).

Here the probability of success is 50% because there is a true-false question and there is a 50-50 chance of both being the correct answer.

Now, here to calculate the probability we will use normal approximation because the sample size if very large(i.e. greater than 30).

So, the new mean of X, \mu = n \times p = 100 \times 0.50 = 50

and the new standard deviation of X, \sigma = \sqrt{n \times p \times (1-p)}

                                                                  = \sqrt{100 \times 0.50 \times (1-0.50)}

                                                                  = 5

So, X ~ Normal(\mu=50, \sigma^{2} = 5^{2})

Now, the probability that Pat will pass the exam is given by = P(X \geq 60)

         P(X \geq 60) = P( \frac{X-\mu}{\sigma} \geq \frac{60-50}{5} ) = P(Z \geq 2) = 1 - P(Z < 2)

                                                       = 1 - 0.97725 = <u>0.02275</u>

Hence, the probability that Pat will pass the exam is 0.02775.

A theater sold 980 tickets for a ballet. The orchestra seats cost $50 each and the
blondinia [14]

Answer:

310 balcony tickets were sold

Step-by-step explanation:

Part 1:

X=the number of orchestra seats sold

Y=the number of balcony seats sold

980=the total of tickets sold

X+Y=980

Part 2:

Orchestra seats cost $50

Balcony Seats cost $35

Total money collected $44,350

50X+35Y=44,350

X+Y=980

Y=980-X (substitute y in your second equation)

50X+35(980-X)=44,350

50X+34,300-35X=44,350

50X-35X=44,350-34,300

15X=10,050

X=670

Y=980-X

Y=980-670

Y=310

Check

50X+35Y=44,350

50(670)+35(310)=44,350

PLEASE HELP
lys-0071 [83]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

A. It is an experiment as the sales director is applying treatment to a group and recording the results.

B. I would have two hundred fifty sales representatives from each region take the training and two hundred fifty from each region to not take it so i can be able to see if it affects both regions differently. The representatives from each region would be chosen at random and the length of their training would be the same for all.

C. now you would only be able to have 200 people from each region train. this would lower the percentage of the impact the training had on the amount of sales.Ex, if the original 250 trained people in a region increased the sales in that region by 20% and 50 of those people ended up not actually training, the sales would have only went up by 16%.

D. cor relational research is best to establish causality.Ex, the amount of training the representatives got may affect how much they are able to sell. also the number of representatives trained may affect the amount sold

A backyard was measured with a degree of accuracy to the nearest 2m; 20m × 30m. What is the largest possible area of the backyar
ladessa [460]
We determine the largest possible area of the backyard by multiplying the length and width using the greatest values for each dimensions which is 22 for the length and 32 for the width, or vice versa.
                                          Area = (32 m) x (22 m)
                                                    = 704 m²
Thus, the answer is 704 m².
Note: The answer given above was obtained by multiplying 31m by 21 m.
