The <u>difference between any two consecutive integers is always 1</u>.

Suppose, the five consecutive integers are:  n,  n+1,  n+2,  n+3 and  n+4

Given that, their sum is 270. So, the equation will be......

n+(n+1)+(n+2)+(n+3)+(n+4)=270\\\\ 5n+10=270\\\\5n=270-10=260\\ \\ n=\frac{260}{5}=52

Thus, the second number in the sequence will be:  n+1= 52+1=53
