Let's remember that some English people left England due to religious persecution, as was the case of the Puritans that were against some principles from the Church of England. They were very strict people in following their religious teachings and that belief was brought to the Americas. Pilgrims founded the Plymouth Colony in 1620. On the other hand, the Quakers were more liberal regarding their religion and opted to be tolerant regarding religion. William Penn founded the colony of Pennsylvania so the people could express freely and without any strict religious belief.
