Answer:

Ring- present participle

Explanation:

The sentence is an example of "present indefinite sentence" in the affirmative version which suggests the use of the first form of the verb i.e. "present participle" form of the verb. The statement exemplifies a habitual action of the speaker which is written with the use of present participle form of the verb. "I ring the bell when it is time for the doors to open". "ring"(present participle) here is the verb that draws the answer of the question.

If you read each of these, or speak them, there is only one that suits the sentence correctly.

Go with the third one. Couldn't seems to fit pretty well there.

GaryK [48]

Answer:

Gruber and Hyatt told several of their discreet friends about the incident at the Harding's house when they got to Norton.

Explanation:

During a summer evening, Rev. J. Gruber and Maysville attorney called Hyatt met at Harding's place to discuss.

During their discussion, they noticed the strange agitation of a long vine in front of the house. The vine was shaking violently. On sighting the incidence, the duo rode together to Norton where they related the strange incidence to several discreet friends.

"A Vine On A House" is classic written by American story writer, journalist and poet, Ambrose Gwinnett Bierce.

It's a story which revealed the unusual vine found in the old abandoned Harding's house. Two years after the disappearance of the mother of the house, the family abandoned the house.

Which element of Miranda's character is best illustrated by this excerpt? If by your art, my dearest father, you havePut the wild
kicyunya [14]
The above speech makes a key element of Miranda's character clear.

In The Tempest, Miranda is a sheltered character who has not had much interaction with the world. Her interactions are limited mainly to her father and Caliban. Therefore it might be expected that Miranda is sheltered and even cold and unfeeling. It would not be surprising if Miranda were to look upon the storm (and the ship being tossed about at sea) and find it only interesting, nothing more. Her reaction, however, is quite different.

Instead, this speech proves Miranda is not cold and unfeeling. She begins by saying, "If by your art, my dearest father, you have Put the wild waters in this roar, allay them." She suspects her father may have played a part in the storm, and she begs him to calm the seas so that those at sea might be saved.

She goes even further, however, than showing concern for those at sea. She goes so far as to say, "O, I have suffered With those that I saw suffer." Although she is safe on land, she knows that those at sea are suffering, and she suffers along with them. This proves Miranda is capable of empathy feels for others. She feels that the boat likely had a good person ("noble creature") on board, and she fears the storm has killed someone. She worries about the safety of others and begs her father to do what he can to calm the sea.

As a result, this excerpt best illustrates Miranda's sympathy for others. It proves she is a caring, compassionate, merciful person.
