Students in Miss Moseley's fourth grade class are learning multiplication, and they demonstrate mastery by passing assessments.

Travis has passed 11 tests, and his classmate, Jenifer, has passed 2 tests. Going forward, Travis plans to pass 2 tests per week. Meanwhile, Jenifer plans to pass 5 tests per week. Eventually Jenifer will catch up to Travis. When the number of tests each student has passed are equal, how many tests will each student have passed and how many weeks will it take?

We suppose that after n weeks that the number of tests each student has passed are equal. So the number of tests are 11+2n for Travis and 2+5n for Jenifer. The number are equal so we can get the equation: 11+2n=2+5n. Then we can get n=3. Finally, the answer is after 3 weeks each students will have passed 17 tests.

Frank devised a formula for his catering business that calculates the number of meatballs he needs to prepare. The formula is m=
NeX [460]
So if m=4a+2c is your equation then all you have to do is plug in the numbers.

So you then get m=4(25)+2(7), for 25 adults and 7 children.

Then you solve.  m=100+2(7)
                           m=100+14
                            m=114
So Frank will need 114 Meatballs for the party of 25 adults and 7 children
 Hope this helps! And if you need anything else just ask :)
