The revolution primarily aimed to non-violently encourage a civil resistance against the authoritarian violence which eventually led to the tumbling of President of the state, Ferdinand Marcos, and the re-establishment of democracy. Literature during this period and after this underwent a major transformation. It is throughout this period newspapers were marked as crony as they helped a great deal in making this overturn possible.
