It's neither a metaphor or a simile. There is no comparison to anything. A and B are both not the answer.

An alliteration is a repetition of the same sound. This is the second best answer because the m is repeated. But an alliteration occurs with different words.

Peter Piper picked a peck of pickles. Is an alteration. Different words are used.

The answer is C Repetition.

Read the excerpt from “Fish Cheeks.” Then my father poked his chopsticks just below the fish eye and plucked out the soft meat.
elena-s [515]

Answer:

In the last sentence of the excerpt, the narrator is:

B. embarrassed because she wants Robert to think she views the food as strange, and her father is revealing her true feelings about it.

Explanation:

In Amy Tan's short story "Fish Cheeks" she tells readers of an episode when she was fourteen years old. Amy had fallen in love with the minister's son, Robert. Upon finding out her mother had invited Robert and his family for dinner at Christmas, Amy was appalled. She believed the typical Chinese dinner to be served would be a disappointment for an American family. There would be no turkey or sweet potatoes, but fish and shrimp instead. For the first time, Amy looked at all the food and did not find it appetizing.

The excerpt we are analyzing here shows how embarrassed Amy was when her father said, "your favorite." She wanted Robert to think she found the Chinese meal disgusting, so that he would see her as a typical American girl. However, her father innocently revealed the way she actually felt about the food, more specifically about the fish cheeks.

Identify this statement as a fragment, a run-on, or a complete sentence: “Luke wrote a story, it was a comedy.”
velikii [3]

We can actually deduce here that the sentence, "Luke wrote a story, it was a comedy" is a run-on sentence.

What is a run-on sentence?

A run-on sentence refers to the sentence that has independent clauses which joined improperly. In other words, the use of independent clauses in the sentence didn't fit in.

We see here that "Luke wrote a story" and "It was a comedy" are two independent clauses. But we discover that they are not placed properly. Thus, it's a run-on sentence.
