ancient african civilizations are important because they had their own effect upon the world history and upon modern times which developed from ancient wars and leaders.  

Several times in ancient Egypt, Africans would conquer Egypt and rule over them, affecting their history and wars. And Egypt obviously affected how the Mediterranean area grew.
