One of the earliest civilizations in the world flourished in the Indus River valley in Asia between about 6500 BC and 1700 BC. Also called the Harapa civilization, it occupied both sides of the current border between Pakistan and India. According to new estimates, that civilization surpasses ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia in ancient times.
