So number for the first one it only makes sense for x to be 0 and y be 1. Any other number would be to high to equal 1. So for the first question 0 + 1 = 1. What number plus what number equals 5? 3 + 2 equals 5 so that is your answer. x stands for 3 and y stands for 2 in the second problem.
I only did a few but if you need more help PM me.

What percent of 130 is 52
zheka24 [161]
To find percentages, simply take the number that is not the "100%" number and divide it by the other number.

in this case,

52 / 130

complicated way of figuring it out if it makes more sense for you,

find how much is 1% of 130

130/100= 1.3

1% of 130 = 1.3

and then you just take 52 / 1.3

feel free to comment any questions on how to figure out future problems

Two walls of a canyon form the walls of a steady flowing river. From a point on the shorter wall, the angle of elevation to the
Sunny_sXe [5.5K]

Answer:

x is approximately 226.3 feet

y is approximately 308.6 feet

z is approximately 226.3 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

The given parameters of the walls are;

The angle of elevation from the top of the shorter wall to the top of the opposing wall, θ₁ = 20°

From the diagram, the angle of depression from the top of the shorter wall to the bottom of the opposing wall, θ₂ = 45°

The distance from the bottom of the shorter wall to the base of the opposing wall, l = 320 feet

x = The height of the shorter wall = l × sin(θ₂)

∴ x = 320 feet × sin(45°) = 320 feet × (√2)/2 = 160·√2 feet ≈ 226.3 feet

∴ x ≈ 226.3 feet

By observation, we have;

y = x + z × tan(θ₁)

Where;

z = l × cos(θ₂)

∴ y = 160·√2 + 320 × cos(45°) × tan(20°) ≈ 308.6

y ≈ 308.6 feet

z = l × cos(θ₂)

∴ z = 320 × cos(45°) = 160·√2 ≈ 226.3

z ≈ 226.3 feet.

A company makes steel rods shaped like cylinders. Each rod has a radius of 2 centimeters and height of 70 centimeters. How much
lakkis [162]

Answer:

213,645.6cm³

Step-by-step explanation:

Area of a cylinder is expressed as;

V = πr²h

r is the radius = 2cm

h is the height = 70cm

Get the volume of one rod;

V = πr²h

V = (3.14)(2)²(70)

V = (3.14)(4)(70)

V = 879.2cm³

one steel = 879.2cm³

243 rods = x

Cross multiply;

x = 879.2 * 243

x = 213,645.6

The company will need 213,645.6cm³ volume of steel to make 243 rods
