Here are two examples of how cultural beliefs can effect relationships negatively:
Before answering the question, it's important to get the definition right for cultural views.
Cultural views: 'Cultural views are the beliefs held by a group in a society to be true. We have individual beliefs and also collective views.'
Example: 'Indians love cricket.' The statement can be true as many people do love cricket, but not everyone loves cricket.
Negative consequence of certain beliefs.
Example 1: In many African, Middle-Eastern, and Asian countries, men holding hands is a sign of friendship. But in western countries that can be perceived as a sign of homosexuality.
Example 2: Stereotyping-'It is the low resolution or simplified image of a person belonging to certain group, religion, and culture.'
'Baniya' community in India is widely perceived as a community frugal with money, although it can be true for man individuals but not true for many individuals. Hence, when you meet someone who is from 'Baniya' community, you will assume the person to be stingy with money but it can easily be false.
