1. Argue whether the use of clever language works to develop the plot and comedy in The Taming of the Shrew.

The use of clever language works to develop the plot and comedy in The Taming of the Shrew. In this play, comedy plays a large role in moving the plot forward. However, this comedy is rarely physical. Instead, it is based on irony and play on words. Language is therefore extremely important in achieving the comedic effect.

2. Argue whether comedic devices work to develop the plot in The Taming of the Shrew.

Comedic devices also allow the author to move the plot forward. The author makes use of irony in particular to develop the plot. For example, in the competition at the end, everyone assumes that Bianca is the person who is going to win. However, Katherine ends up being the most obedient wife.

3. Argue whether the plot development relies upon the use of comedic devices in The Taming of the Shrew.

The plot development employs a lot of comedic devices. However, it does not rely on them solely. The author also employs other devices in order to develop the plot of the story.

I would go for the second argument:
"Argue whether comedic devices work to develop the plot in The Taming of the Shrew."
Comedy is a literal genre and a dramatic work which is really entertaining and sarcastic. Most of the times it has a happy ending.
The Taming of the Shrew is a Romantic comedy and if there were no comedic devices in this story the Taming of the Shrew would just be another romantic story which was gone wrong and not entertaining.

There where it is we do not need the wall: He is all pine and I am apple orchard. My apple trees will never get across And eat t
ss7ja [257]

Answer: C. Frost's use of metaphor to give the apple trees the qualities of grazing animals emphasizes that the wall is unnecessary.

Explanation: figurative language is the use of words or expressions to convey a meaning that is different from the literal interpretation. A metaphor is a figure of speech that consists in making a direct comparison between elements that aren't obviously related, in order to create an image in the reader's mind. In the given excerpt Frost uses a metaphor that compares the apple trees to grazing animals ("My apple trees will never get across And eat the cones under his pines"), this helps to emphasize that the wall is unnecessary.
