Answer: The answer is (b) Two line segments are congruent if their length measures are equal.

Step-by-step explanation:  We are given four options and we to select which one is true regarding the terms equality and congruence.

We are familiar with the geometrical terms. In case of line segments, the terms 'equal' and 'congruent' have the same meaning.

But, in case of length, we use the term 'equal' rather than congruent. So, first option is incorrect and second one is correct. Also, third option will also be wrong.

Option (d) cannot be correct, because two line segments may be congruent.

Thus, the correct option is (b).

Length of the median CP
ehidna [41]

Given:

ΔABC \sim ΔDEF

To find:

The length of median CP

Solution:

In ΔABC,

AP = 12, BP = 12 and PC = 3x - 12

In ΔDEF,

DQ = 16, QE = 16 and FQ = 2x + 8

If two triangles are similar, then their median is proportional to the corresponding sides.

$\Rightarrow \frac{AP}{DQ} =\frac{PC}{FQ}

$\Rightarrow \frac{12}{16} =\frac{3x-12}{2x+8}

Do cross multiplication.

$\Rightarrow 12(2x+8)=16(3x-12)

$\Rightarrow 24x+96=48x-192

Add 192 on both sides.

$\Rightarrow 24x+96+192=48x-192+192

$\Rightarrow 24x+288=48x

Subtract 24x from both sides.

$\Rightarrow 24x+288- 24x=48x- 24x

$\Rightarrow 288=24x

Divide by 24 on both sides.

⇒ 12 = x

Substitute x = 12 in CP.

CP = 3(12) - 12

     = 36 - 12

     = 24

The length of median CP is 24.

Which graph has a slope of 1/2?
ryzh [129]
A slope of 1/2 means for every two units to the right we move up one.

We have to be careful here because the graphs don't always use the same scale for x and y.

The bottom left uses the same scale and does indeed go two units to the right for every unit up, so that one is the answer.

Which products result in a perfect square trinomial? Check all that apply.
sladkih [1.3K]

The <em><u>correct answers</u></em> are:

B=(xy + x)(xy + x) ; C=(2x – 3)(–3 + 2x) ; and E=(4y² + 25)(25 + 4y²)

Explanation:

In order to have a perfect square trinomial, we must multiply two binomials that are exactly the same.  For (xy+x)(xy+x), are multiplying two identical binomials.

For (2x-3)(-3+2x), we are multiplying two binomials that are the same but written in a different order.  The same is true of (4y² + 25)(25 + 4y²).
