The Coast Guard had been monitoring the strong winds and high waves. The Coast Guard Cutter Florida was headed toward the beach

to warn swimmers about the danger. They were ready to post red flags warning of a strong undercurrent. Over the summer, many swimmers had been rescued. The coastal beachfront was especially prone to a strong undercurrent because of the Gulfstream. Several guard members on the boat watched the scene unfold as the cutter headed toward shore. They saw two surfboarders heading toward a small raft with a young child inside. The raft was close to flipping over. Several guard members on the boat watched the scene unfold as they headed toward the shore.
What implicit idea is expressed in this sentence?

A) The cutter was also about to flip.
B) Several guard members on the boat watched.
C) The raft and the surfboards were already close to shore.
D) The boat was too far away for the Coast Guard to reach the child.

Answer: (C)

Explanation: The explicit idea means it completely and evidently express something, leaving nothing indirect. Something that is explicit is clearly stated and indicated out and as a result leaving no room for misperception. In this paragraph, the explicit idea is “The Coast Guard warns swimmers about dangerous waters.” Since the Coast Guard clearly cautions the swimmers about the waters.

To what extent are creative decisions determined by rituals and belief system?
mrs_skeptik [129]

Rituals are ceremonies that are performed according to laid down procedures. Creative decisions are resolutions that are made from people's original ideas.

  • Since creativity entails being original, it is not really affected by rituals and belief systems.

Rituals and belief systems do not encourage creativity.

This is because a person who follows a ritual does what is acceptable by his religion or culture. Rituals do not encourage thinking outside the box.

Therefore, rituals and belief systems affect creative decisions to a small extent.
