Answer:

It was harsh but sometimes fair. Their system of laws dictated precise retribution, "or "an eye for an eye" for lesser crimes. If you do someone wrong, expect the same to be done to you. If you broke someones bone, you would have YOUR bone broken. However for capital crimes, there were bizarre and gruesome punishments. If 2 people were seen committing incest, they were burned alive. If a boy hit his father, his hands would be chopped off.  So yes they were pretty harsh but sometimes it was okay.

How did the Massachusetts Government Act of 1774 change the way Massachusetts was governed?
arsen [322]

Answer: A. It banned colonial assembly.

Explanation:

The British government viewed the Colony of Massachusetts as a threat due to its continued defiance of British mandates and its seemingly leading role in the rebellion of the other colonies to British directives as well.

The last straw to the British was the Boston Tea Part after which Parliament passed the Massachusetts Government Act of 1774 which placed Massachusetts directly under the control of a Royal governor who had absolute powers and suspended the Colonial assembly in order to remove any illusion of self-governance the people had.
