What was the effect of korematsu v. United States
cupoosta [38]

Internment camps were affirmed as legal.

Explanation:

President Franklin Roosevelt ordered an executive (9066) order to the US army to ban the American Citizens who have Japanese ancestry. More than 10,000 citizens were moved to the internment camps that were specially designed for the Japanese ancestry American citizens.

Against this order, Fred Korematsu who is an American with Japanese ancestry refused to move to the camp from his home. He was considered to be convicted for not obeying the president's order. After so many hearing in the district and high courts, finally, his case appealed in the supreme court in 1944.

A 6-3 out of 9 rulings by different judges on the court the majority held back his conviction. Also, they mentioned in the ruling that it is legal to cut down the civil rights immediately when is a racial group is considered to be the suspect.

The growth of suburbs in the United States following World War II caused
Rina8888 [55]
The growth of suburbs in the United States following World War II caused massive governmental expenditures on roads programs.

Population growth after World War II was a cause of expansion of cities into suburbs. The prices of homes in suburbs were more affordable to middle class families, due to lower land prices and new building practices like tract housing. (The song, "Little Boxes," sang about those kinds of homes, row after row of the same sorts of construction.)
With the growth of the suburbs, improvement of roadways became a priority. Highway improvement was also a priority of President Eisenhower for the sake of national security. The Federal-Aid Highway Act passed in 1956 allocated $26 billion (in 1956 dollars!) to a monumental road-building effort that created the interstate highway system.

The growth of the suburbs can be viewed as a good thing or a bad thing. It was good in that it was part of a dynamic picture of economic growth and prosperity in America. But suburban culture had the tendency to segregate white Americans in the suburbs from blacks in the cities' inner core neighborhoods, leading to racial segregation and inner city poverty issues that we're still dealing with today.

brilliants [131]

Summary of the Passage:

The Albany Movement was a movement against segregation policies in Albany and was supported by the SNCC, NAACP, and SCLC. Martin Luther King's goal was to advise people rather than join in on the movement but he was arrested during a demonstration for 45 days and a fine. He was released three days later during an attempt to cause change by choosing jail time but the movement would end a year later without achieving its goals to end segregation policies in Albany.
