Hi there!

5( - 3x - 7) =
To find our answer we need to work out the parenthesis. This can for instance be done using rainbow technique.

5 \times  - 3x + 5 \times  - 7 =
Now multiply. Remember that multiplying a negative by a positive makes you end up with a negative.

- 15x - 35
The fourth answer is correct.
~ Hope this helps you!

Hi there!

Simplify th' expression :-

5 (- 3x - 7)

⇒5 × (- 3x) + 5 × (- 7)

⇒ - 15x + (- 35)

⇒ - 15x - 35

Hence,
The required answer is: - 15x - 35

~ Hope it helps!

For what value of x will the function f(x) = -3(x - 10)(x - 4) have a maximum value? Find the maximum value.
gayaneshka [121]

Hello!

To find the maximum value of the function f(x) = -3(x - 10)(x - 4), the easiest way is to find the vertex using the formula: x = -b/2a.

Firstly, we need to simplify f(x).

f(x) = -3(x - 10)(x - 4)

f(x) = -3(x² - 14x + 40)

f(x) = -3x² + 42x + -120

Since the equation f(x) is now simplified to standard form, we can find the vertex.

a = -3, b = 42, and c = -120

x = -(42)/2(-3) = -42/-6 = 7

Then, we substitute 7 into the the function f(x) = -3(x - 10)(x - 4), or

f(x) = -3x² + 42x + -120, to find the y-value of the vertex.

f(x) = -3(7 - 10)(7 - 4)

f(x) = -3(-3)(4)

f(x) = 27

The vertex of f(x) is (7, 27).

Therefore, the maximum x-value for the function f(x) is 7.

The function y = 4x² + 9x-2 has______at the vertex.<br><br> A:minimum<br> B:Maximum
Sveta_85 [38]

Answer:

  • A. Minimum

Step-by-step explanation:

Given function:

  • y = 4x² + 9x - 2

This is a quadratic function with <u>positive</u> leading coefficient.

It means the graph of the function opens up and therefore it has minimum value of the function at the vertex.

<u>Correct</u> answer <u>choice</u> is A

slava [35]

7/8 minus1/4 minus 1/2

7/8 - 1/4 - 1/2 =

(1 × 7)/(1 × 8) - (2 × 1)/(2 × 4) - (4 × 1)/(4 × 2) =

7/8 - 2/8 - 4/8 =

(7 - 2 - 4)/8 =

1/8

the answer is 1/8

Baby weights: The weight of male babies less than 2 months old in the United States is normally distributed with mean 11.8 pound
fomenos

Answer:

(a)0.3493

(b) 0.7611

(c) 0.5034

(d) No it is not unusual

Step-by-step explanation:

Using the TI-84 Plus calculator to answer the following

The formula for calculating a z-score is is z = (x-μ)/σ, where x is the raw score, μ is the population mean, and σ is the population standard deviation.

Mean 11.8 pounds and Standard deviation 3.1 pounds.

(a) What proportion of babies weigh more than 13 pounds?

z = (x-μ)/σ

= 13 - 11.8/3.1

= 0.3871

Probability value from Z-Table:

P(x<13) = 0.65066

P(x>13) = 1 - P(x<13) = 0.34934

The proportion of babies weigh more than 13 pounds is 0.3493

(b) What proportion of babies weigh less than 14 pounds?

z = (x-μ)/σ

= 14 - 11.8/3.1

= 0.70968

Probability value from Z-Table:

P(x<14) = 0.76105

The proportion of babies weigh less than 14 pounds is 0.7611

(c) What proportion of babies weigh between 11 and 15.8 pounds?

For x = 11

z = (x-μ)/σ

= 11 - 11.8/3.1

= -0.25806

Probability value from Z-Table:

P(x = 11) = 0.39818

For x = 15.8

z = (x-μ)/σ

= 15.8 - 11.8/3.1

= 1.29032

Probability value from Z-Table:

P(x = 15.8) = 0.90153

The proportion of babies weigh between 11 and 15.8 pounds

P(x = 15.8) - P(x = 11)

= 0.90153 - 0.39818

= 0.50335

≈ 4 decimal places = 0.5034

(d) Is it unusual for a baby to weigh more than 18 pounds?

z = (x-μ)/σ

= 18 - 11.8/3.1

= 2

Probability value from Z-Table:

P(x≤ 18) = P(x = 18) =

0.97725

No it is not unusual to have a Weight of 18 pounds

Round the answers to four decimal places.
