World war i, or the great war of 1914, began in part because of a system of defensive alliances among european states.
Aleksandr [31]

This is most defiantly true.

The reason being is in the beginning of the war Russia was allied with Serbia while Germany was allied with Austria-Hungary. When Austria-Hungary's Archduke was assassinated while in Serbia they declared war on the Serbians. True to Russia's war saying that they would help Serbia in time of war declared war on Austria-Hungary, Because of the alliance between Austria-Hungary and Germany, Germany declared war on both Russia and Serbia which then just escalated from there dragging the nations of France, Britain, and Italy into the war. so then you had one alliance consisting of France, Britain, and Russia forming the triple entente, and the Triple Alliance on the other consisting of Austria-Hungary, Germany, and Italy.

Describe how the axis powers came to control much of europe but failed to conquer britain
Helga [31]
They took it by storm. They developed and used the system of blietzkrieg warfare which was basically about using tanks and aircraft to quickly take as much land as possible before the opponents even had the time to react and it was successful for taking countries like Belgium and France, Poland, and parts of Russia.

They failed to take control of Britain because Britain was an island that couldn't be reached quickly by Tanks. They could only focus on bombing Britain to keep it in a bad condition but Britain had a strong air-fleet too as well as naval power so it was difficult to board a full attack on British soil which is why Britain wasn't occupied unlike France for example.<span />

YOU BRAINLYEST IF U GET IT During his second term, Franklin Roosevelt tried to pack the U.S. Supreme Court to get his way with r
Neko [114]

Answer: On February 5, 1937, President Franklin Roosevelt announces a controversial plan to expand the Supreme Court to as many as 15 judges, allegedly to make it more efficient. Critics immediately charged that Roosevelt was trying to “pack” the court and thus neutralize Supreme Court justices hostile to his New Deal. During the previous two years, the high court had struck down several key pieces of New Deal legislation on the grounds that the laws delegated an unconstitutional amount of authority to the executive branch and the federal government. Flushed with his landslide reelection in 1936, President Roosevelt issued a proposal in February 1937 to provide retirement at full pay for all members of the court over 70. If a justice refused to retire, an “assistant” with full voting rights was to be appointed, thus ensuring Roosevelt a liberal majority. Most Republicans and many Democrats in Congress opposed the so-called “court-packing” plan. In April, however, before the bill came to a vote in Congress, two Supreme Court justices came over to the liberal side and by a narrow majority upheld as constitutional the National Labor Relations Act and the Social Security Act. The majority opinion acknowledged that the national economy had grown to such a degree that federal regulation and control was now warranted. Roosevelt’s reorganization plan was thus unnecessary, and in July the Senate struck it down by a vote of 70 to 22. Soon after, Roosevelt had the opportunity to nominate his first Supreme Court justice, and by 1942 all but two of the justices were his appointees.
