It mostly consisted of them taking control of foreign nations that were battling each other, but neither the US or Soviet Union declared war on one another. This was because it happened so soon after WWII that neither wanted to be held responsibly for another war.
They might defend the constitution due to the fact it gives the U.S the rights and freedom.

It's similar in the sense that the predominant type of social organization around the world is democracy. Many countries around the world are trying to implement democracy as a governmental model or already have done so. This was also found in the ancient Greek society. That is one way how it was similar to today. Substitution effect - As the price of a good increases people purchase less quantity because they will switch to a now "relatively" cheaper substitute. The price of the substitute isn't allowed to change, so people buy more of it and less of the original.
Law of D.M.R. - As you acquire more of a good, the value of each unit decreases. Because the value is decreasing, so is the amount you are willing to pay leading to an inverse relationship between price and quantity demanded.
