Drugs and alcohol can impact every system of the body, depending on the drug.  They can impact sight, balance, hearing, reflexes, respiration, etc.

Drugs and alcohol can reduce your endurance, they can slow your reflexes, and they can also cloud your judgment, all of this would be bad for any athlete. Alcohol is a sedative, and can really slow down your reaction times... and give you lack of co-ordination.
