The central idea of the text is that it focuses on the experiences of the immigrants. The hard times of adjusting to the other culture, understanding its language and even accepting to the discrimination of the majority. It shows in the text that it is not easy to immigrate to one place but it is also shown in the story that Firoozeh Dumas despite all negativity that she encountered of being an immigrant, she still have the humor and positivity in her personality that helps her to survive and along the able to blend into the society. In the end, the author shares her story to the people and give the mindset of determination.
