Answer: D) Tense.

Explanation: Context clues are hints that an author gives to help the readers to understand a difficult or unusual word within a sentence or paragraph. In the given excerpt from "The World with a Thousand Moons" we can see that the author gives context clues to help us understand the word "taut," by saying that Kenniston's voice taut because of the desesperation, we can know that this word means "tense" (corresponding to option D).

Tasya [4]

Answer:

William Blake´s use of figurative language tells us that his hatred grew and grew as an apple tree and his enemy (his foe) stretched beneath the tree.

Explanation:

It makes us aware what bad feelings can cause in other´s peoples´ lives and in our own, if we try to conceal them or not to show them.  They will always arise in probably dangerous forms for both, the reciever and the beholder.

Harrizon [31]

The main character is the girl ( the salesman could be considered one too but since you said character not characters its most probs the girl). The story takes place mostly at the store since thats her destination, the place where she forgot the money, and the place that had sympathy on her when she did (basically where all the events took place). Finally, the information that makes the readers want to continue reading is perhaps the fact that she will pay the store back  which sort of already develops a plot for the next bit.
