Answer: According to Erasmus, it is not biblical to execute heretics.

Explanation: Erasmus was a Christian humanist that lived during the Renaissance period. He promoted religious toleration as he was against the execution of heretics. Instead of being in favour of the killing of heretics, Erasmus believed in conversion, even though he also supported free will. In that way, throughout his work, he aimed at putting an end to the execution of heretics for considering it anti-biblical.

The answer is no. Erasmus believes that it is not biblical to execute heretics.

EXPLANATION

Erasmus was a brilliant intellectual in his era. Erasmus believes in the values of Renaissance humanism. He was also a Catholic priest and a highly influential Dutch scholar. The Renaissance was between the 14th century to the 17th century. It was a European cultural movement. The word renaissance itself means rebirth, so the Renaissance means a renewed appreciation for Roman and Greek culture and art.

The Renaissance's most central theme is humanism. Humanism is basically a belief system about human actions that have a great value on human nature. Renaissance humanism merged the human values from the Roman and Greek Culture with Christian theology. Erasmus believed in the renaissance humanism.

Erasmus himself was born in 1466, specifically in Rotterdam, Holland. He went to Paris and studied at the University of Paris. After graduating, Erasmus became a lecturer at the University of Cambridge. Erasmus taught about theology, which is known as the study of God. He then becomes known as a respected intellectual in England. He translated the New Testament in Greek and Latin. He prepared the high-quality ones, so it will be helpful to other people, especially to other Bible translators. He ended up writing a lot of books and became a respected literary figure.
