In a written short story, we cannot clearly see the setting and the physical appearance of the characters. These are visual elements a film will take advatage of. Films will certaily make a point of showing beautiful settings or real settings to show a nice or reliable picture of the story. The physical appearance of characters is a key factor specially in commercial films. Film stars can be chosen to sell the film. Anyway, the cast will be chosen to represent the story characters physically.
