We need to add all common variables on the sides before anything else. So lets add 2 and 6 on the left side.

n+8=9+8n+4

Then we need to add 4 and 9 on the right side.

n+8=13+8n

We need to subtract 8 from the left and right side to get rid of 8.

n=5+8n

Now lets subtract 8n to n.

We get

-7n=5
