In 2019, one of the biggest algae blooms in recent years occurred in Lake Erie. But the last decade has brought larger algae blo
SashulF [63]

The environmental impacts that can result from large algae bloom in the Great Lake would include fish kills and the existence of dead zones. Hence, II and III would be the right option.

Algae blooms in aquatic ecosystems are usually caused by the enrichment of water bodies in the ecosystems. The bloom of algae limits the smaller aquatic plants from getting sunlight for photosynthesis.

Consequently, the small aquatic plants start dying off and decomposing, leading to a reduction in the amount of dissolved oxygen in water bodies. Reduction in dissolved oxygen eventually leads to the death of aquatic lives such as fishes and zooplankton.

Thus a low oxygen zone incapable of supporting life, also known as dead zones, is created in the water bodies as a result of algae bloom.

How would the human population be different if crossing over did not happen during meiosis
cestrela7 [59]
The offsprings or children would be very similar to their parents.
Cross over involves the exchange of chromosomes segments between non-sister chromatids during the process of meiosis. It creates new combinations of genes in the gametes that are not found in either parent, a factor that brings about genetic variation or genetic diversity among individuals. Therefore, without crossover offsprings would be genetic similar with their parents.

If a plant's leaves developed so that its vascular tissue only contained xylem, how would this affect the rest of the plant's ph
Snezhnost [94]

Answer:

If a plant's leaves only contained the vascular tissue xylem, then it will not be possible for the plant to absorb carbon dioxide. As carbon dioxide is required for photosynthesis to occur, this means that the process of photosynthesis will not take place. As a result, the plant will not be able to produce food as photosynthesis is the process by which plants make food. This will result in the plant to die eventually in the end due to lack of food.

Recall the Jagendorf experiment (pasted below) was conducted wholly in the dark. Hypothesize what would happen if you were to mi
Alla [95]

Answer:

ATP production.

Explanation:

The result will be the production of ATP molecules if we place thylakoids in a beaker with a solution that mimics the chloroplast stroma in direct sunlight. The thylakoids are able to formed ATP in the dark because H+ gradient is required for ATP synthesis. The scientists find out that the light reactions were not necessary to establish the H+ gradient required for ATP synthesis by ATP synthase.
