Answer:

~~

Step-by-step explanation:

Ok so first 2.4 will have to be changed to 24 which means we multiplied it by ten making it 24/10 since it is tan it is opposite side/ adjacent side so your one of your legs will be 24 and one will be 10. Now we just plug that into the Pythagorean Theorem to find the hypotenuse and we get 26. The area is 24b10/2=120 the area is 120.

Leg a= 24

Leg b= 10

Hypotenuse=26

Area=120

The point P = (x, - 2/7) lies on the unit circle shown below. What is the value of x in simplest form?
miskamm [114]

Answer: x = \frac{3\sqrt{5}}{7}\\\\

Explanation:

The equation of the unit circle is x^2+y^2 = 1\\\\

Plug in y = -2/7 and solve for x

x^2+y^2 = 1\\\\x^2+\left(-\frac{2}{7}\right) = 1\\\\x^2+\frac{4}{49} = 1\\\\x^2 = 1-\frac{4}{49}\\\\x^2 = \frac{49}{49}-\frac{4}{49}\\\\x^2 = \frac{45}{49}\\\\x = \sqrt{\frac{45}{49}} \ \ \text{ ... x is positive}\\\\x = \frac{\sqrt{45}}{\sqrt{49}}\\\\x = \frac{\sqrt{9*5}}{7}\\\\x = \frac{\sqrt{9}*\sqrt{5}}{7}\\\\x = \frac{3\sqrt{5}}{7}\\\\

Can someone help me with (a) and (c)? Thanks! ;D
BaLLatris [955]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

a) Mark any two points in line a

(0,7)  ; (5,-3)

Find the slope

slope = y2 - y1 /x2-x1

=\frac{-3-7}{5-0}\\\\=\frac{-10}{5}\\\\=-2

Equation: y-y1 = m(x-x1)

y - 7 = -2(x - 0)

y - 7 = -2x

y = -2x + 7    --------> line a

c) equation of line b

(2,-1);  slope = -2  {as b line is parallel to line a}

y - y1 =m(x-x1)

y -(-1) = -2*(x - 2)

y + 1 = -2x - 2*-2

y + 1 = -2x + 2

y = -2x + 2 -1

y = -2x +1   ------> equation of line b
